In past weeks, fans have been speculating that a new version of 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, following comments made by Rockstar themselves in an earnings call in which the publisher said it was readying to release two “new iterations of previously-released titles” that are strictly ports or remastered titles (and not sequels) in Rockstar’s FY 2024, which is any time between March 2023 and March 2024. Rockstar would no doubt be aware of mounting rumours, so an update like this could very well be a deliberate and quite respectable troll. Listed as “Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver)” or codename “RDR1RSP” there’s every possibility that this is simply a branding update to bring it in line with other Rockstar titles, but given the recent series of signs that a Red Dead Redemption re-release of some description could be on the cards the timing is certainly interesting.
A particularly sleuthy Twitter user by the handle of Tez2 has made a potentially important discovery for Red Dead fans, sharing that a recent refresh of Rockstar’s official website has seen the addition of an updated logo for the original Red Dead Redemption along with a new internal listing for the game.
